Gold Award Postponement

Our Gold Award progress will be postponed until Fall 2009 due to many school and other Girl Scout related activities.

We are still working on our pre-requisites, and we will try and keep our progress updated!

Peace Out Girl Scout- the theme for our service unit's 2008 spring Encampment played up to the Gold Award project Emily and I have been planning for a year or so now. It was incredible to see the enthusiasm, support, and ideas all the girls had. I think that not only did we all grow to truly appreciate what other activists before us have achieved in their pursuits of peace, I think we all grew to want to achieve this ourselves. Emily and I strived to teach the girls that they could make a difference, no matter how small their efforts. Now, we just have to swallow our own words and know that we can achieve our goals to finish our Gold Award project. In it, we plan on creating a peace-inspired website which will be available to girl scout troops as a resource and hopefully as an inspiration in their own lives and endeavours. Another goal of ours is to put up a Peace Pole in our neighborhood, for all to admire and reflect upon. In our project we'd like to highlight ways that Girl Scout Troops can "go greener", including green and peace inspired projects, activities, and possibly a forum for girls to connect. This is all still in the planning stages, but keep visiting our blog to follow us through to the very end! We appreciate the support, the kindness, and all the positive energy you've brought to our project already and look forward to it in the coming months!
